Yoga for runners
Yoga is increasingly being used in the world of sport to enhance performance as well as recovery and there is a growing evidence base to support this.
Whether you are a professional athlete, a club runner or a park runner, yoga will:
-
Build strength in the joints that stabilize you as you run.
-
Build mental strength.
-
Improve your balance – running is after all essentially balancing on one leg at a time.
-
Stretch tight muscles. These are more prone to injury.
-
Encourage use of your full natural range of motion improving running efficiency.
-
Improve your recovery time.
Whilst the majority of people who attend my classes are runners, they are equally suitable for people who do other sports or no sport at all yet like my teaching style. No previous experience of yoga is required.
