ABOUT MY CLASSES

I love meeting people so you are assured a friendly welcome at my classes.  We also have some fun!

All my classes move at a steady pace. They usually have a particular focus for several weeks enabling students to see progression in their practice and become familiar with the poses.

You don't have to be super flexible, spiritual or a woman to come to yoga.  My classes are for everyone.  They will improve your flexibility but also build strength and stability.

Variations of poses are offered in class and props like blocks are often used.  One of the many wonderful things about yoga is you can still get the same benefits of a pose by practicing it in different ways including with the support of a chair.

Yoga is more than the physical poses and you will find breath work as well as relaxation key components of my classes. These elements can reduce stress and improve sleep.

ABOUT ME

I'm an Essex girl in exile on the Cambridgeshire/Suffolk border.  I discovered yoga 20 years ago as free classes were offered by my then employer the local hospital. This was a complete change for me having spent the previous decade living quite an unhealthy lifestyle commuting to London.  I loved these classes and soon noticed the benefits.  I also began to practice some of what I'd learnt in class at home.

I started running in my 30s, completing the local Race for Life 5K.  It felt quite an achievement as I never thought it was something I could, or indeed would, do.  Running became a big part of my life, making new friends and is how I met my amazing husband.  I've run 10 marathons including 3 of the World Marathon Majors (London, Berlin and Chicago).

Yoga has given me a greater awareness of my body and also an appreciation of what it can do.  Yoga has been a sanctuary at times and I also find it a great complimentary practice to my running.  This is a gift I want to share.

I have trained with, and am a member of, the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY), the National Governing Body for Yoga in England.  I have also studied with The Institute of Yoga Sports Science to develop a deeper understanding of yoga for athletes.  I am on a lifelong journey of study including self-study (Svadhyaya).  My teachers have had a significant impact on me over the years and I aspire to have that positive impact on my students.
